Sunday, September 25, 2011 - LaBamba III

4245 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were seated.  Not to busy, a little dark.

When we sat down, we were served warm chips with two different salsas.  One with a little kick and the other ordinary salsa.  No taste really in the second one.

Since the chips were good, we decided not to have an appetizer.

Antonio order a half chicken with mole sauce, rice and beans.

I ordered the two enchiladas with onions.  Extra rice, no beans.

The service was quick, under 10 minutes, we had our food.

The server said, be careful, the plates are hot.  Well he was right, the plate was hot, but my food was cold.

Antonio said his food was very flavorful and only ate half of it.  Brought the other half home for him to conduct an experiment in the refrigerator. Another story.

Decently priced.  Might return again.

Saturday, September 24, 2011 - The Whole Enchilada

4115 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This is the first dinner of the blog.  After living here in Fort Lauderdale for a few months, I just decided to start a blog about our dinners.  We have been eating out a lot and I wanted to share our experiences.

Tonight we ate at The Whole Enchilada on North Federal Highway.  They have a great menu, mexican inspired food.  Broad range of food for carnivores and vegetarians.

We ordered the taquitos as our appetizer, two tofu and one pork.

I ordered the fee-hee-tay barita - Seared tofu with rice, peppers, beans and onions in a wheat burrito shell.  I asked for no beans, and extra rice.

Antonio ordered the enchiladas with beef.

My barita came out first, and I sliced it open.  it is filled with beans.   Not good.

Antonio's enchilada's came, he said it looked good, and covered with a cup of cilantro, ewww.

I took my barita back to the counter and explained to them that they had made my barita with beans and I ask for no beans.  The cook looked at the ticket and said, "Oh, didn't see it at the bottom" and said he would remake it and bring it out to me.

After Antonio and I both got our entrees, the server brought out our appetizers.  Usually those come out first.  The tofu was boring, not marinated very well, and antonio said that the pork was dry and rubbery.

Likely we will go back, three out of 5 stars possibility.

.... See ya tomorrow, yum food.
